This was a knock down and rebuild project for Manley Homes. When we were introduced to Rachel & Jarrett they had already spent considerable time with Jan designing the perfect home to replace the post war house which still had the original kitchen and bathroom intact on the block.
As a result, they had detailed working plans and specifications prepared, so they only needed a reliable builder to under take the demolition of the existing house and the construction of their new house and pool.
The house and land was purchased by our clients 5 years previously. The 512m2 relatively flat block was already home to an existing 3 bedroom post war house, that we needed to demolish to make way for a new house and swimming pool.
The site and the client’s brief held a few challenges for their Architect Jan Hogarth from Placemate. Parents to a young son and with another son on the way, they needed to fit the new 5 bedroom house on the block and still have a reasonable size back yard, including a swimming pool, for the boys (and dad) to play in.
Jan achieved a house design that was very efficient with space and in a style that fit comfortably into the established suburb. Apart from considering every aspect of their lifestyle, she included some cleverly located verandahs that not only enhanced the design and layout of the home but captured the amazing city views.
We engaged Manley Homes once we had complete architectural plans for our new home. Right from our first meeting we knew that we had a good fit with Rex our builder. Rex took the time to get to know us and we were confident that he understood our motivations and aspirations with the build.
Having never built before, we relied heavily on Rex to provide guidance and advice throughout the project. No detail was too small and all aspects of the build were considered and discussed with the appropriate level of detail. During construction Rex was ready with innovative and stylish solutions to minor issues and was always consultative and professional.
His eye for detail and high standards culminated in a beautiful and sophisticated home. We would thoroughly recommend Rex and his team at Manley Homes for any building project.
